Jason Solowsky on MySpace

I have a friend who says that he hardly even notices the background music in a film; he just concentrates on what is happening on the screen. That is hard for me to understand since I find the music to be so important in setting the tone of the movie and interpretive of what the actors are doing.

To once again bring to your attention a MySpace friend of music2work2 and an artist who composes some music that has similarities, I suggest you check out the work of Jason Solowsky, a film composer. To be a film composer, it seems to me that one would have to be very versatile, having skills in lots of areas. Jason certainly fits that bill; he is a heavy metal guitarist, classical pianist, sings on occasion, and is even a certified bartender. Something about the way he expresses himself in the written word immediately made me think of Andrew, composer/performer of music2work2. The same sort of humor comes through in their writing.

The music you find on Jason’s MySpace page, covers a wide range of music types, as they are from some of the many independent films for which he composed the music. There are the slower tempo, melodic, piano driven pieces such as “The First Kiss” (13 Months of Sunshine) and “Until Your Dying Day” (Instant Dads;) and there are the fast tempo, thunderous sounds of “Blood Red Sky,” (Willoughby) and the squalling strings in guitar driven “Exposed” and “Driller” (Driller)

There are 20 tracks to listen to on Jason’s MySpace page; a real listening experience. For more information on Jason you can check out his webiste at http://www.jasonsolowsky.com.

More Frustration - the theme that is...

I'm quietly giggling to myself over the title of this piece - because I'm not actually that frustrated anymore. I'm really liking this piece and its development - this morning was a simple piano and string development - I'm not really hearing the string part yet and I'm still dialing in the structure but there is a simplicity about this morning's version that I kind of dig. On the job hunt front things are looking really good. I'm excited to find that there are plenty of companies out there looking for someone with my talents: leadership, social media, communications skills, etc. What I'm realizing is that I may need to start another blog over at http://andrewmccluskey.com to talk about my experiences with social media - I'd rather keep music2work2 focused on the music - so - another day or so of set up - but we're getting there.

Charlotte is doing a great job over on MySpace - we've started to work down George Winston's friend list; we think that if you dig his music, you'll probably like mine. It's funny - I hadn't heard of George Winston until W told me that my playing reminded her of him; I went and listened and fell in love with Autumn and particularly The Venice Dreamer on Winter into Spring- I was living in Venice, Ca at the time and it seemed to sum things up perfectly.

There are so many changes taking place at the moment - its kinda hard to keep up. This is the new music2work2 blog layout - I need to play with the CSS to get the colors and text right - hopefully by the end of play today - we're also changing all the prices on the music2work2 site so that all sessions are now $0.99. CD's are now available from CDBaby and we are beginning to appear in other online stores like iTunes and Amazon

We recommend that if you're purchasing from the music2work2 site you purchase through mysongstore - you get a better a deal and you're supporting independent artists like me! Thank You.

Day 2 - More Frustration but that's a good thing...

So - I almost hit yesterday's target of having my resume finished.  It is close and I reckon I'll have it by mid-morning.  I am going to apply to Fanscape for their Social Media Marketing Manager position- it looks right up my alley - we'll see - at this point it all comes down to fit. I still need to get through the list - I was working on a background image for andrewmccluskey.com the other day - still working on getting a groovy looking texture that conveys the idea of music but yet enables clean delivery of text - not there yet but here's where I'm at: Background Concepts for andrewmccluskey.com

Musically I took another crack at Frustration today - this time at 173 bpm - pace wise it is subjectively a little slower than the 61 bpm and 199 bpm that I was playing with earlier in the week - I like this string pass too - I'm still working on the middle section and this one comes out a little short - but I'm liking the direction.

No post tomorrow morning as I'm off to write with Kelli - but back on it Thursday.
