Proofreading - Music to Write to

Up to this point the music has pretty much followed the rules of writing – you’ve seen the theme originate and be developed – but traditionally at this point – I would be polishing and tweaking the previous piece – and that’s not what I want to do.

I have no intention of following the rules of writing.

Seriously – I suspect most of the rules are just common sense anyway – I mean really – you need 5 rules to help you write? Here’s one rule for you:

1/ Write

I’ll add a second:

2/ Read

There – that should just about do it.

I truly believe that someone who writes and reads their work five times over will produce a much better result than someone who writes once, learns a lesson and then applies it once and moves on.

I believe in my balls, that when it comes to the creative arts, there is no substitute for doing it.

Sure -- you should read and be aware of the canon, there is much to learn -- but when it comes to your own original work -- that can only come from you -- and how else are you going to learn your work unless you do it?

So -- you can of course use the 5 rules of the process to produce a piece of writing fit for the world and who knows -- maybe it is or maybe you just polished a turd.

This is the Music to Write to playlist and I am interested in serious writers -if you’re a writer and you want help writing – welcome – I wrote this for you.

Forget everything else…

put this on…

…and write.

You’re a fucking writer!

Revising / Ximena 3/5 - Music to Write to

The third stage in the writing process - Revision - this is where you take the idea that originated in the pre-writing phase, that was initially expressed in the drafting phase - and you work at it and make it better.

When I'm working on a theme I listen the hell out of it - it really does become my music to work to - or in this case, my music to write to. I'll probably listen to the same track 10 or 15 times over a couple of days just to get familiar with it and feel where it wants to develop.

The core theme is now pretty well established - the tempo at 83 beats per minute feels right and there's plenty of room to play with.

As for the addition of Ximena to the title - well - that's all about inspiration. You never know where it's going to come from or how it will be perceived, but suffice it to say - this piece wouldn't exist in this state if Ximena hadn't been in the ether. Thank you ;-)

New Image for music to write to playlist - August 2013

It's been a massively productive month and this new schedule of publishing every Monday is really starting to have an impact. Subscribers are up on the YouTube channel and membership is growing again - hooray!

We've been loving how Kylie's imagery sits with the July 2013 | Create Flow Playlist - it looks really cool and works very well with the music - thanks Kylie.

Next month's playlist is going to focus on the idea of music to write to; Charlotte and I have been hunting for the right (Ha!) image - and here it is:
