The Early Years - Part 1

This album covers the years between 2000 and 2005, when the whole idea of music2work2 was starting to take shape. My sister Victoria's wedding drove the initial impetus to produce something tangible - Arrival and the Anam Cara were both played during the ceremony. A little more experimentation and another wedding resulted in the development of Jax's theme. Sexercise was written for a workshop on women's sexual energy - I know - sometimes as musicians we have to make sacrifices for the greater good - and finally, Beautiful came along just when things were at their bleakest.

Follow Your Dreams – that’s what they say. Move to Los Angeles, become a Rock Star – or not. Choose to study, to practice - to the detriment of the normal niceties that are supposed to accompany a life. Everybody has their own journey and no-one’s is the same...

I live in terror of not being good enough, of being the delusional incompetent who has spent his time unwisely and probably selfishly in pursuit of something that was never going to be. I suspect that every creative lives with this, although I’m pretty sure that people like B.B King or Paul McCartney don’t sweat the small stuff anymore.

This piece had something in it that allowed me to continue; to believe that if I just worked hard enough and long enough, that everything would be OK. It’s not really music2work2, more of a marker on the way to what music2work2 would become, but it gave me hope at a very dark time and for that – I called it Beautiful.

Promoting Tim O'Neil

Usually the artist friends of music2work2 from MySpace are the musicians themselves. But, we have a friend named Kristy who is promoting the music of Tim O'Neil. Tim O'Neil is a composer/musician out of Detroit, Michigan. His music is classified as Ambient/Classical/Acoustic. Mr. O'Neil began playing the piano at age 2 1/2 and composing music at age 4. He is proficient in a variety of musical instruments, in addition to the piano.

On Tim O'Neil's own MySpace page, there are six sample pieces. They are all very melodic, beautiful piano pieces. It would be difficult for me to choose a favorite because I enjoy listening to all of them. I especially like "Amelia's Song," "Come to Me," and "Good Night Detroit."

It is easy to understand how Kristy is such a fan of Tim O'Neil's music. I am glad to have found his music and now I am a fan myself.

If you enjoy beautiful piano music, I highly recommend listening to his work.
