New Image for music to write to playlist - August 2013

It's been a massively productive month and this new schedule of publishing every Monday is really starting to have an impact. Subscribers are up on the YouTube channel and membership is growing again - hooray!

We've been loving how Kylie's imagery sits with the July 2013 | Create Flow Playlist - it looks really cool and works very well with the music - thanks Kylie.

Next month's playlist is going to focus on the idea of music to write to; Charlotte and I have been hunting for the right (Ha!) image - and here it is:

Music to write to - Create Flow

The original image comes from photographer Ian Hayhurst. You can see more of Ian's photographs here and the original image before the crop here. Ian has kindly allowed us to use the image and we will be compensating him with a share of digital revenue.

If you're a photographer and you have imagery that evokes the idea of flow and you'd like to see your work associated with this kind of music - please do get in touch.

Sanity - July 2013 - Music to create flow

And so we hear the return of Norma - coming back in and spreading a little sanity for everyone. It's been interesting to watch this playlist develop - even as I'm playing it - I'm never really sure what direction it's going to head in.

Having heard the theme pop out during the second session - Insanity - it makes sense that it should come into its own for this piece. The fact that half way through it segues into this really held back blues, makes me smile.

Although the playlist started at 97 beats per minute this session was delivered at 67 bpm - there was a version at 83 but it sucked ;-p

As for the video - well yes - I was feeling all "glowsticky" again and I wanted to play with the images and how they bled into the blue of Kylie's image as well as playing with different hues and tracks. All pretty sophomoric visually - but I'm learning lots.

Music and Creativity - 2 1/2 minute video

We caught this video when curating our page on
Background music - how music can improve your life - and thought it was well worth posting on the blog.

It's 2 1/2 minutes long and looks at the work being done by Parag Chordia and the team at Georgia Tech into how music can impact pretty much every area of our lives - but in this case creativity.

A good playlist from music2work2 to stimulate creativity would be the Writers playlist
