151 Theme Development

[audio:151-part1.mp3 | titles=151 Theme Development|artists=music2work2]After a week off focusing on clients and things it's back in the saddle at 151 beats per minute

There is definitely a theme evolving in here - I've been working it all morning and it is probably going to end up as the first new piece of music2work2 in a while. Not quite sure where the tempo and meter will end up, we'll see but it certainly lives here as well.

Malcolm Middleton - Red Travellin' Socks - One Track Mind

I have listened to Malcolm Middleton's "Red Travellin' Socks" 10 times since finding it on One Track Mind yesterday (the track is streaming now and you can download it too!) I can fall in love with all kinds of tracks but there is something about Summer and high energy, up tempo tracks that just changes my attitude and puts me in a great mood.

Malcolm Middleton

I checked out Malcolm's site last night - a former member of Arab Strap - his new album Waxing Gibbous was released on June 1; he's an interesting character and he's Scottish too- what's not to like!?

I've got a number of posts up my sleeve about the process of finding new music - more on that another time -but I do recommend One Track Mind. Not quite sure how I came across them - probably twitter - but their approach appeals to how I see music discovery going forward. I like how they've set up their site and the review process is super easy - good execution all round.

Emma - 20 minutes 4 seconds

Piano track written for a friend who was fighting cancer at the time .

For Emma who fought the Blowfish and won.

This piano track was written to give Emma something to listen to while dealing with the chemo crap. After a while I did a second piece for her based on her "numbers" - although I gotta say - this is my favorite. Emma is a remarkable women; her battle with cancer was picked up by BBC Radio Solent and run as part of their 100 Lives project. This article tells Emma's story better than I can - check it out.

She is another of my favorite people and her brother's not bad either!
