Birdsong - Essay Writing Music

It wasn't going to be called Birdsong - the working title was "Vomit" courtesy of Wendi - but the birds were so freakin' loud when tracking that I felt I had to incorporate them into the final mix.

Birdsong is apparently incredibly good for you.  Our subconscious has evolved to keep an eye out for predators - the theory goes that birdsong is a great indicator that all is good in the world - on hearing it we can relax a little more.

So - if you're stressing about getting shit done or even if you're flowing hard - this track should open you up a little and allow you to allocate even more resource to the process.

Cool huh!?

and yes - I was totally drinking Sapporo while recording...

Introduction - Essay Writing Music

It's essay writing time - well, it probably is for you if you're reading this!

The music was created to help you sit down and actually start to write.  Think of it as a learnable response - when you hear the slow, opening notes of the introduction associate it with the act of writing, of beginning the writing process.   The more you do this, the easier it will become to start.

At this point the playlist consists of the introduction alone - a fairly simple walk down that describes the core theme of the piece.  I know that there are three more parts but until I play them, I've no idea what they're going to be - kinda like where you are with your essay at the moment.

I've done my outline, I know where I am and what I need to produce - now it's just time to get on with it - good luck!

The amazing image was commissioned from artist Jody Bateman Johnston - I gave her two pieces of direction:

1/ that it had to convey the idea of flow

2/ that it had to convey the idea of essay writing

I left her alone for a month or so and this is what she came back with.  I absolutely love it and hope you do too!  You can check out more of Jody's unique perspective here: http://drasticjo.com

Encouragement - July 2013 - Music to create flow

The fifth and final track of the playlist - has a little bit of everything that came before with a few unique aspects. Played at 97 beats per minute, we get interpretations of the previous themes and ultimately - the themes themselves.

So many great parts of this track and one or two dodgy areas. I dream that Zoe Keating will come along and lay a cello track - we'll just take out the keys where they're weak and feature the majesty of the bow - and then I wake up...

If you're listening to this as part of the playlist - you're not even going to notice it - hopefully ;-p

Again - a big thank you to Kylie Woon for the 202 image - it's an awesome image and I learned a lot.
