Had to remove the AudioBoo as it was just waaay too insanely loud for the little mic on the iPhone - but the gig was a blast - Taylor had enough energy for the entire strip and Vladimir Putin on rhythm guitar was pretty amazing to see.

I like Andy – in a roguish kind of way – he’s not inherently evil – he just assumes that you can take care of yourself and that you make your own decisions.

Andy was born In East London in the spring and summer of 1999 – having been thrown out of America for absolutely legitimate reasons - my life plan wasn’t exactly going to plan: there’s nothing like sitting in front of a US customs officer as he tells you that you’re going to jail, you’re going to get fined $50,000 and that you’re going to get aids.
So I came back to London and became Andy the Barman – lived above the pub – drank fruit flavored alcopops for breakfast and waited for the stars to change. If you need to be lost – a live-in pub gig is great – there’s a big bar separating you from your friends – they can only watch as you leave.

Life was particularly strange – but brilliant – I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
I eventually found a rehearsal room - a mile or so away from the pub and on my day off, would set out by bus to “keep my hand in." There was a corner shop between the bus stop and the rehearsal room – I would buy a six pack which I would then sheepishly hide as I paid for my rehearsal room – I'd go up – and immediately slam 3 bottles down.
I then sat at the piano and forgot everything for the next hour or two – it was from one of these sessions that this theme appeared.
When I think of musicians – when I think of musicians whose music I have heard and fallen in love with – I think of them as melodies – their themes – I don’t really think of them as people at all. Music itself is so much more memorable than the human being behind it – how often have you heard a song that you know and love and yet have forgotten who wrote, sang, performed it etc.?
Music is one weird ass thing

I’ve decided to spend the next few months working up a number of themes that have been developing over the years. Instead of casting around for new ideas – I’m going to focus on polishing the ones I already have.
This piece is called Scary Movie Music and was one of the first music2work2 themes ever developed. It has a load of stories attached to it – and yes - one does involve the murder squad. In my head there are 4 different string parts – a few guitars and a whole bloody brass section – I’d really love to hear what a French horn could do to the melody.
Tonight was the first time I’ve played it in about 6 months and it is a little ropey to say the least. The audio track comes from the midi recording as I buggered the analog track but you should get the idea.
There are two other themes that I have in mind to develop, one from my Andy the Barman days and one for my Mum!
