Music to talk it out to

I don’t know about you but the last month or so has been pretty grim; I’m hoping and praying that we’re coming out the other end – it does feel so.

It’s funny when you’re down & depressed – I personally tend to shut myself away and stop interacting with people – which feels like a good short term strategy but is a horrible path to stay on as it eventually becomes a self-fulfilling downward cycle.

Even though the self-loathing makes it hard to be around other people, actually talking to someone about “it” makes a huge difference. This piece of music was written for that exact purpose – in fact – I was talking as I was playing.

So – here it is – 20 minutes of soft, calming piano music to have on in the background while you cathartically expel your bullshit.

Enjoy!

Cicadas meet Dorothy

One of the nice things about coming out to see Charlotte is that she has a load of old music2work2 that I haven't listened to for ages; tracks that were being developed that never got finished, me experimenting with different voices etc, etc. I had reminded myself this evening that I wanted to record the noise of the cicadas from the back porch - they are so loud and such a part of the environment that I reckoned they would work nicely as an additional voice in a music2work2 piece.

So - I fired up Audioboo to record the cicadas and just as I started to record - the Dorothy theme came on the stereo - it is a theme I wrote for Wendi's grandmother who passed away a few years back; it has parts for piano, strings, bass and guitar - and while the execution isn't great - I love the idea.

So - I ended up recording the track and book-ending it with cicadas...

Think I'll be re-visiting this one when I get back to LA

Beautiful music............

I am listening to a new musical piece composed and recorded by my partner in music2work2. This beautiful music is so calming and soothing. I have had a difficult time over the past week or so trying to make a decision about my future and determine what direction my life will take. One thing this music helps me know for sure is that I am devoted to doing as much as I can to make this business venture a success. This music, this talent, needs to be shared with and experienced by everyone. It will make a difference in their lives in a number of ways.

Music is one of the great pleasures in life for me, like viewing a beautiful sunset, or majestic mountains with their brilliant colors in the fall. These things feed my soul and enrich my life.

One of the unique qualities of this music is that it can be listened to and focused on, filling your being with joy and hope and peace. It can also be playing in the background while you are focusing on a task rather than specifically on the music itself and yet it still brings the positive feelings and pleasure to the time at your task.

This artist is an amazing talent. I am so very glad that he and his music are a part of my life. His friendship and his musical talent enrich my life and bring me joy. I am honored to be able to play a part in sharing his great talent with the world.
