Wendi - Piano Theme

Nath is coming along nicely - I've been listening to Mix 2 all weekend and am ready for the next one. There are some stunning parts to the theme and I'll probably post one or two later on this week.

There are a number of fairly well developed themes that have yet to be completed and I thought I might start on them after Nath is published. One of the earliest (and possibly my favorite) is Wendi's G Minor theme; I thought I'd take it out for a spin this morning - no tempo and no coda - just a little run through to familiarize myself. It is written for piano and strings and I've been backing off from it until I was really familiar with the "new' set up (only took me a year!) Spot the Clam at 2:55!

New Piano Development - June 9

...it's funny - I thought for sure that there would be some of the New York Jets theme in here - but no - none at all - I really dig the piece though. [audio:june9-core.mp3| titles= June 9, 2010 Development|artists=music2work2 ]

Split into a number of different themes:

1/ Opening intro - concludes with a resolution of a theme I've been working on for a while - sounding good...

2/ This is a blues development in D minor

at 16 minutes I must have hit a button on the Roland and a string patch comes in - bizarre - it soon goes and the blues comes back....

3/ The third theme at 18 minutes - the G major development again - this is definitely written for a second part - I'm gonna loop this when I get a chance...

at least two instruments in here - there's a lower register melody as well as a higher register string like melody - plus there's room for a lead as well - I like the establishment of the left hand at 23 minutes....

4/ New theme - driven off the left hand - a minor development of the G major theme

5/ Typical positive out theme - I like how the ending is relatively positive - it works with the optimist in me...

Discombobulated

I am a cat on a hot tin roof - the only solution is to play. I am going to develop existing sessions - starting with Wendi's G Minor theme. To get into the groove I'm going to play around with a patch on the Triton at 67 beats per minute - the tempo for Wendi's theme . OK - done. They're heading off up to the server as I write - Have a listen to the Triton Piece:

I love doing this kind of freestyle - it makes playing fun. I am always on the look out for percussionists and loop makers who want to collaborate.

Wendi's piece is coming along very nicely. I did do another string pass but it was crap! ;-) I might put a clip up here just to see if I can!
